Don't stress about income tax

EMC news - If you are low income and meet the eligibilty criteria, volunteers can help you get your tax forms completed.

The Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode Community Resource Centre (NROCRC) is accepting registrations for free tax clinics across Nepean. Locations include:

- NROCRC, 1642 Merivale Rd., inside Merivale Mall.

- Nepean Housing, 16 Kilbarron Rd.

- Bells Corners United Church, 3955 Richmond Rd.

- South Nepean CHC, 4100 Strandherd Dr., Unit 201, Barrhaven.

DOCUMENTS

Clients need to bring the following to the income tax clinic:

- Assessment from CRA.

- A copy of last year's return (2009) or

- Spousal info, including SIN and income (if spouses return not being prepared at the same time).

- Dependents info, name and date of birth.

- Information slips: T4, T4A, T4A (OAS), T4P, T4RSP, TRRIF, T4E (EI benefits), T5, T5007 (WSB/OW/ODSP), T2202 (education slips), T5008, RC-62 (uni.child), T3, T5, bank statements (for any RSP, TFSA, GIC), foreign income, spousal and/or child support receipts.

- Information on rent or property taxes.

- Daycare expenses, childs activity receipts.

- Medical expenses, including health plan premiums.

- Disability forms, caregiver receipts.

- RRSP receipts, union dues or membership paid.

- Moving expenses.

- Charitable donation receipts, bus passes

The clinics only deal with taxes for the current year. If you haven't had your taxes done for a few years, let them know and they can setup a meeting with an agency who does previous taxes.

The NROCRC accepts donations and will issue tax receipts.
